Disney Cruise Line pushes back debut of new ship: Travel Weekly Asia

Disney Cruise Line has announced that the highly anticipated maiden voyage of the Disney Adventure has been rescheduled from its original date to 10 March 2026, citing unexpected delays in the shipbuilding process.

The cruise line emphasised its commitment to quality, stating it has “made the difficult decision to postpone the Disney Adventure’s maiden voyage to 10 March 2026” to “ensure every detail meets the high standards you expect from Disney.”

Voyages scheduled from 15 December 2025 to 12 March 2026, will be impacted. Due to the adjusted timeline, Disney Cruise Line is now proactively reaching out to affected guests and travel agents to offer flexible rebooking options.

What happens to affected bookings?

Disney Cruise Line is offering options to impacted passengers:

Maiden voyage guests: Those originally booked on the maiden voyage will automatically be transferred to the new 10 March 2026 sailing with a 50% discount on their voyage fare. Guests who cannot sail on the new date can request a full refund by 21 September 2025 and still retain their 50% discount for future use.

Other affected sailings: Passengers booked on other cancelled sailings will receive automatic refunds to their original payment method plus a 50% discount on future cruises.

What travel agents need to know

Future cruise discounts must be used for bookings made by 31 March 2026, with departure dates on or before 31 March 2027. New 2027 Disney Adventure sailings will become available for booking from March 2026.

The 50% discount will be notated and visible on guest accounts by 8 October 2025. For earlier bookings, the discount will be applied retroactively with updated confirmation statements issued within 72 hours.

Travel agents will benefit from maintained commission structures. Disney Cruise Line confirmed that “commissions that would have been payable on your clients’ cancelled sailings will not be affected and, for new bookings made using the 50% future cruise discount, your commission will be calculated using the discounted price (subject to Disney Cruise Line’s sales agreement and/or commission
program terms and conditions).”
